Another spring is nearing its merciful end. The summer is in sight, but the Gridiron Deacs, I assure you, are itching for September 1 to be here as soon as it can.
My name is Josh Strickland. I'm a rising senior here at `Mother So Dear,' and my experience as a member of the Wake Forest football team has been one that I will cherish forever. It's my hope that, through a series of articles, I can instill some of that passion that runs through my veins into our great fans across the country.
This spring has been anything but kind - but it sort of had to be. Although many enjoyed last year's Music City Bowl run, we have even bigger expectations for the coming season, and that starts this Saturday at 1 pm with our annual Spring Game at BB&T Field.
Coach Grobe, however, has added an extra twist to the game this year - we're picking teams. After dividing up the seniors into two teams, Black and White, we took turns picking the best ensemble we could. The White team was the beneficiary of winning the coin toss and with the first pick, selected Nikita Whitlock. The Black team then followed that up with Tanner Price. The picks continued on until both teams were complete.
We all know the WHITE team is the one to watch though!
This Saturday promises to be another outstanding memory in my mind, as well as the first step into becoming who we want to be as a team next season - CHAMPIONS!
Wishing Deacon Nation all the best,
GO DEACS!!!
