WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team dropped its first exhibition game against Radford, 1-0, after surrendering a goal in the 81st minute on Tuesday night at Spry Stadium.

The Highlanders' Bernardo Ulmo collected a through ball from Matt Janssen that was partially deflected by a Wake Forest defender and fired a shot into the back of the net to put Radford up 1-0 at 80:31.

For the game, the Demon Deacons outshot Radford 13-12, including a 9-3 advantage in the first half. The Deacs also had a 10-6 advantage on corner kicks but were unable to capitalize.

Sean Okoli led Wake Forest with three shots, including one shot on goal, while 10 other Demon Deacons took one shot apiece. All four of Wake Forest's shots on goal came in the first half, but Radford goalkeeper Ryan Taylor made four nice saves to keep the Deacs off the board.

Wake Forest ended the first half with a flurry, taking seven shots from the 35:12 mark until the break. Okoli had a pair of nice chances within a minute of each other, sending one shot high and having a header off a cross from Kovi Konowiecki saved by Taylor.

Konowiecki and Andrew Powell both had shots saved during that stretch, while Jared Watts sent a shot off the crossbar, as well.

Michael Lisch spent the first half in goal and collected two saves for the Demon Deacons. Alec Ferrell also had one save after playing the third and final 20-minute period.

Wake Forest will have one more exhibition game this Saturday at Furman at 4 p.m. in Greenville, S.C. The Demon Deacons are just over a week away from beginning the regular season, with the first game slated for Friday, August 25, against Wofford at Spry Stadium.
