Andrea Beck Named to Preseason All-ACC Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -Senior middle blocker Andrea Beck was named to the Preseason All-ACC team as voted on by the league's 12 head coaches, the conference announced on Friday.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Beck has garnered preseason all-conference honors for the second season in a row. She was also an All-ACC pick after the 2011 and 2010 seasons as well.
Despite missing time in 2011 due to injury, Beck had a solid season in which she registered 271 kills averaging 3.39 kills per set. She tallied 54 blocks and 62 digs during the season as well. In her career, she is a .297 hitter and is 160 kills away from 1000 in her time at Wake Forest.
It marks the seventh-straight season in which a Wake Forest player was named to the Preseason All-ACC team. Kadija Fornah earned the honor in 2009 and 2010 after Natalie Mullikin picked up the same award three-straight years (2006-08).
The ACC coaches' predicted order of finish was released on Friday as well with Wake Forest picked 11th in the conference with 25 points.
Florida State was picked to repeat as the ACC champions with nine-first place votes cast in a vote of the league's head coaches.
Wake Forest looks to improve upon its 2011 season in which the team won six conference matches and nine overall. The Deacs open up the season at High Point on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.
