WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head women's tennis coach Jeff Wyshner has announced that senior Kathryn Talbert will serve as team captain for the 2012-13 season.

"I'm very pleased to announce that Kathryn Talbert will serve as captain of this year's women's tennis team. She is a natural leader who has always had the respect of her teammates as someone to look to for support and guidance, even when she was only a sophomore," said Wyshner.

"Given that we are now a team with no other player in more than her 4th college semester, we are going to need her leadership in many ways. Anyone who has ever been on the road with us or worked closely with Kathryn knows that she has an incredible sense of humor and ability to bring a group together. I'll be relying on Kathryn to help teach this young group how to come together with the commitment to each other, to the coaches and to their own development that is necessary for a collegiate team to be highly successful."

Talbert has been a standout for the Demon Deacons through her first three seasons, especially in doubles, where she has posted a 49-22 all-time record. She has been ranked as high as No. 7 in the national doubles rankings.

The Demon Deacons will begin fall tournament play this weekend at the Virginia Invitational.
