
Demon Deacons Fall to NC State

RALEIGH - Wake Forest fell to NC State 3-0 (23-25, 21-25, 21-25) on Friday night in an ACC match up at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Demon Deacons move to a 12-5 overall record with a 1-4 mark in the ACC. NC State improves to 13-4 and 4-1 in conference.
Kylie Hargreaves had a team-high nine kills in the match while chipping in 10 digs. Kristin Grissom and Matalee Reed each had seven kills for Wake Forest. Megan Miller led the team with 19 digs and Grissom had 3 block assists for the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest led early in the first set, going up 8-4 after a service ace from Sophia Dodd. NC State came back to tie the set at 13. The two teams then battled to a 23-23 tie before the Wolfpack rattled off two points to close the set 25-23.
NC State jumped out to an early 15-7 lead in the second set. Wake Forest came back to pull within three, cutting the Wolfpack lead to 21-18. After NC State took a timeout, Wake Forest fell 25-21 in the set, going down 2-0.
The third set was tight between the two teams throughout most of the frame. Deadlocked at 17-17, the Wolfpack went up by two as the Deacs called a timeout.NC State eventually went up 23-21 and used two kills from Meredith Richardson to win the set 25-21 and take the match 3-0.
Dariyan Hopper had a team-high 16 kills while Rachel Buckley added 11 for NC State.
Wake Forest is back in action tomorrow against No. 10 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. at 5 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
