Kan and Bloom Win Singles Titles at WFU Fall Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman Maksim Kan won championship in the top singles flight and Sam Bloom took home the title in the B flight as the Wake Forest men's tennis team wrapped up play in the WFU Fall Invite on Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Coming off of the best victory of his career against North Carolina's No. 28 Esben Hess-Olesen, Kan finished the job on Sunday, beating Duke's Josh Levine 6-3, 7-5 in the A1 Singles final.
Bloom rallied after a tough first set in the B1 Singles final to take down Penn State's Marc Collado Castells 0-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The Demon Deacons were also winners in the C Doubles flight as Jaya Billa and Nicholas Osterling disposed of Elon's Juan Madrid and Chris Humphreys 8-3 in the championship match.
Other winners for Wake Forest Sunday were freshman Aws Laaribi, who beat Penn State's Russell Bader, Jon Ho, who took down Iowa's Juan Estenssoro, and Nolan Bauer, who dispatched UNCG's Cameron Smith.
In doubles consolation matches, Kan and Laaribi teamed up to beat Levine and Cale Hammond from Duke, and Anthony Delcore and Pedro Dumont beat Jonas Dierckx and Matt Hagan from Iowa.
Next up for the Demon Deacons is the ITA Carolina Regional, which serves as the individual championships for players who attend schools in North and South Carolina. The tournament starts on Thursday in Cary, N.C.
