CLEMSON, S.C. - Four Wake Forest players registered double-digit kills on Friday but the Demon Deacons fell to Clemson 3-2 (25-17, 25-17, 23-25, 13-25, 7-15).

Kristin Grissom had 16 kills while Kylie Hargreaves registered 14 kills and 177 digs. Matalee Reed and Jazmen Russell each had 10 kills apiece.

The Demon Deacons fall to 12-7 on the season with a 1-6 mark in the ACC. Clemson moves to 10-8 and 4-3 in the conference.

Wake Forest won the first two sets before Clemson rallied to take the last three sets and win the match.

After staying close with each other in the first set, Wake Forest led by a slim 19-17 margin late in the frame. The Deacs then tallied a 6-0 run to win the first set 25-17 which was ended by a block from Hargreaves and Reed.

Wake Forest went up big in the second set by going out to a 9-3 lead, forcing the Tigers to call a timeout. The Deacs led by as much as 10 points as they stretched the lead out to 20-10 after a kill from Grissom. An attack error from Clemson gave Wake Forest the 25-17 win in the second set.

Tied at 21-21 in the third set, Clemson went up 24-22 and then after a service error, Moneshia Simmons recorded a kill to send it to a fourth set.

Clemson won the fourth set 25-13 to send it to set five. Wake Forest trailed in the fifth set 9-4 and then was outscored 6-3 from that point as the Tigers won 15-7 to win the match 3-2.

Simmons had 25 kills for the Tigers while Leah Perri and Kristin Faust each had 11.

Sophia Dodd had 41 assists in the match for Wake Forest while Megan Miller had a team-high 25 digs. Hargreaves and Grissom each had three block assists in the match. Clemson out-blocked the Deacs 16-6.5.

Wake Forest returns to action on Sunday at Georgia Tech for a 1 p.m. start.
