
Wake Forest Sweeps Georgia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Kristin Grissom notched 11 kills on Sunday as Wake Forest swept Georgia Tech 3-0 (29-27, 25-17, 25-19).
Wake Forest swept its seventh opponent of the season and moved to 13-7 on the year with a 2-6 mark in the ACC. Georgia Tech fell to 7-13 and 1-7 in the ACC.
Matalee Reed and Kylie Hargreaves both had seven kills each while Hargreaves tallied 14 digs. Megan Miller led the team in digs with 16. Sophia Dodd had 27 assists, four kills and nine digs in the match.
Wake Forest trailed nearly halfway through the first set, falling behind 14-11 to the Yellow Jackets. The Deacs came back to tie it 16-16 before both teams battled to extra points. Grissom put Wake Forest up 28-27 and won the set after an attack error from Georgia Tech to win the set 29-27.
The teams played to a 13-13 tie in the second set in which Wake Forest registered a 7-1 run to go up 20-14. A kill from Grissom helped the Deacs take the set 25-17 and go up 2-0.
Wake Forest kept the Yellow Jackets at bay for most of the third set, leading 18-13 at one point. Jazmen Russell buried a kill courtesy of Dodd to win the set 25-19 and take the match 3-0.
Georgia Tech hit just .102 for the match while Wake Forest out-blocked the Yellow Jackets 11.0-8.0.
Reed had a team-high five block assists and one solo block.
Jennifer Percy had 11 kills for Georgia Tech while Courtney Felinski had nine.
Wake Forest returns home on Friday with a match against Miami (Fl.) which will be televised on RSN affiliates. The match will start at 8:30 p.m. in Reynolds Gym.
