WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host Wingate in an exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

The game will be the lone exhibition game for the Demon Deacons before they open the regular season the following Saturday, Nov. 9, at Marquette.

Following the game on Saturday against Wingate, the team will host a free skills clinic open to any first through eighth grade girl/boy who attends the game.

Wake Forest returns just six players from last year's squad that finished with a 13-19 overall record. Senior point guard Chelsea Douglas has not missed a game in her first three seasons and will be the leader of the inexperienced but talented group. Douglas has scored over 1,000 points in her career and is the top returning scoring point guard in the ACC.

Fellow senior Lindsy Wright will likely be the starting center and she'll be joined down low by forward Dearica Hamby. Hamby was second on the team in rebounding last season and led the squad in steals and blocked shots.

In the backcourt with Douglas will be junior Millesa Calicott along with freshmen Kelila Atkinson, Ataijah Taylor and Mykia Jones. Calicott played in all 32 games off the bench last season and is one of the best shooters on the team.

Junior Susie Webster and sophomore Kandice Ball return in the front court and will be competing for playing time with freshmen Jill Brunori, Milan Quinn and Keri Fulp.

Wingate is also coming-off a 13-win season in 2012-13. The Bulldogs have 13 players on this year's roster from North Carolina. One player not from North Carolina is senior forward Chantal Dunbar. The Virginia Beach, Va., native averaged a double-double last season, scoring 11.8 points and grabbing 10.1 rebounds per contest. In all, four Bulldogs averaged double-figure points per game last season and all four return in 2013-14.

Demon Deacon freshman guard Mykia Jones and Wingate freshman guard Alex Tomlinson were teammates last year at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, N.C. The pair helped Millbrook to back-to-back state titles.
