CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Wake Forest volleyball fell to Miami 3-0 (19-25, 20-25, 15-25) on Sunday in the final road match of the regular season.
Wake Forest (15-15, 4-14 ACC) was led by Jazmen Russell who registered nine kills in the match. Sophia Dodd had six kills and 18 assists while Megan Miller had 13 digs.
Miami went up early in the first set by taking a 9-4 lead before Wake Forest came back to make it a 10-9 lead. The Hurricanes went up again with a 16-11 advantage but the Demon Deacons tied it at 17 following a kill from Dodd. A few points later, Kylie Hargreaves cut the Canes lead to 20-19 with a kill but Miami closed the set out 25-19.
Wake Forest took a 10-9 lead in the second set after a kill from Grissom but Miami came back to take the lead and closed the set out winning 25-20.
Miami outpaced the Demon Deacons with a big lead in the third set though Wake Forest posted a late run only to fall 25-15 in the final set as Miami won 3-0.
Savanah Leaf had a team-high 11 kills for Miami (17-11, 10-8 ACC).
Wake Forest returns home for the last two matches of the regular season this week. The Deacs host North Carolina on Wednesday at 1 p.m. and NC State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Reynolds Gym.
