Katie Osborne Wins National Agriscience Award

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Freshman field hockey goalkeeper Katie Osborne was named the national winner of the Agriscience Research - Animal Systems Proficiency award program at the 86th National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Convention held in Louisville, Ky.

Osborne, a Millerstown, Pa.-native, won the award which honors outstanding student achievement gained through obtaining hands-on career experience, establishing a new business or working for an existing company.

Part of Osborne's research included finding what sanitizing solution kills the contagious form of mastitis-causing bacteria.

Osborne has seen action in two games this season for Wake Forest who is ranked 15th in the nation. The Demon Deacons head to Newton, Mass. this week to play No. 3 North Carolina on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the ACC Field Hockey Tournament.
