Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik
Opening statement...
"First of all give Coach (Wes) Miller and UNCG players and staff a lot of credit. They played extremely hard and played well. We were fortunate; we struggled. We were fortunate to win and we struggled offensively but give UNCG a lot of credit for that. Fortunately we defended well enough to keep us where we were at least on top most of the game. It's our defense that really won us this basketball game."
On the offense...
"We weren't cutting hard; we weren't screening hard. We only had five assists and we were holding the ball too much. Our bigs were trying to post too much. There was no flow, the ball wasn't moving and bodies weren't moving. But again, UNCG got physical with us and we were just standing around. We weren't even running hard in transition. We turned the ball over and sloppy passes right out of the gate. Wasn't really pretty offensively. Sometimes offense will be a variable like that but defense and effort has to be a constant and we were able to defend."
On the play of Codi Miller-McIntyre...
"He had some timely plays. He had a strong will to not lose this game and he willed himself to a couple of buckets there in a timely way."
Sophomore Forward Devin Thomas
On the win over UNCG...
"Every win is a good win. It may have been ugly but we got the win. Now we get to go home for Christmas and enjoy time with our families for a couple of days and then get back to work on Thursday."
On stopping the UNCG comeback in the second half...
"We just played defense and go some extra stops. We didn't do a good job taking care of the ball, we had I think 14 turnovers and like five assists. We've got a lot to work on from this game and lot to learn from this game but a win is a win."
Sophomore forward Arnaud William Adala Moto
On the win over UNCG...
"We started a little slow and couldn't get our tempo on offense. We didn't do a good job on offensive rebounds but the bench did a great job tonight. We stepped up and came back in the second half."
On the second half...
"They played very physical and we're beating us on offensive rebounds and we had to get ball stops and box out a little more."
On the impact of Thomas and Codi Miller-McIntyre...
"They are two of our best players so we need them to get involved more and be aggressive all the time. Sometimes shots may not fall but they're still pushing so that's what we like about it. So when they're not playing well on offense, they're trying to play well on defense."
