WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest volleyball opened the 2013 spring season on Saturday with an all-day tournament at Duke under first-year head coach Ken Murczek.
"We had a great opportunity to compete against other teams," said Murczek. "This spring we are working on making progress with our vision and goals, but we also want to win. The team is doing a great job in buying into the vision."
The Demon Deacons played two sets each against UNCG, West Virginia, Wingate and North Carolina on Saturday, going 6-2 on the day. Wake Forest split with UNCG and West Virginia before sweeping Wingate. The Deacs then swept North Carolina 25-18 and 25-20.
"The spring season is different than the traditional fall season," said Murczek. "We look to embrace all of the opportunities. I was extremely pleased with the effort and attitude of our team."
Wake Forest continues the spring season on Wednesday with a match at High Point at 7 p.m.
