GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest volleyball won its final spring season match against UNCG on Wednesday night 4-1 as the teams played five sets total.
Wake Forest won the final four sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-20, 15-11) over the Spartans for what will be the final match for the Demon Deacons until the fall season.
"Covering and defensive effort was outstanding last night," said head coach Ken Murczek. "Danae Rosendall played the best match she has from a setting standpoint all spring and that was really encouraging."
With the spring season now completed, the team will work out this summer in preparation for the fall.
"We return for summer weights in July," said Murczek. "But this gives the team a lot of momentum to carry into the summer to train on their own and increase their fitness level prior to returning in July."
Wake Forest began the spring season with a tournament at Duke in which the Demon Deacons downed North Carolina 2-0 while going 6-2 on the day with wins over Wingate, West Virginia and UNCG.
The Deacs then traveled to High Point and defeated the Panthers in five sets. In the third spring outing, Wake Forest defeated Virginia and Virginia Tech while picking up a win over Norfolk State.
"I feel after nine weeks of training the team and having been in the gym, we have made some major strides in the team dynamic," said Murczek. "The team has gotten better every day and it has laid a great foundation for the fall."
