WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior outfielder Evan Stephens has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District 3 baseball team, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Stephens, who is a native of Lexington, Ky., has now earned the recognition for the second consecutive season after maintaining a 3.79 GPA as a finance major.

Stephens has played in all 49 games this season and has made 43 starts. He has played every position in the outfield but has primarily found a home as the everyday center fielder for the Demon Deacons.

Filling the leadoff position in the batting order, Stephens has been ideal in that role with a team-best .378 batting average and a .500 on base percentage. Of his 65 hits on the year, 58 have been singles, and he is nearly perfect with a 14-for-15 success rate on stolen base attempts.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-American honorees will be selected later this month.

The award is released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams programs since 2011.
