Wake Forest Staff Participates in the Premier Volleyball League

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball coaching staff in addition to former Wake Forest standout Andrea Beck participated in the Premier Volleyball League Championships from May 25-28.
The Premier Volleyball League was started in 2012 and is made up of 40 regional teams across the country and is sanctioned by USA Volleyball. Tournament play and a league championship is held every year.
Louisville, Ky. was the site for this year's tournament at the Kentucky Expo Center
Head coach Ken Murczek and assistant coach Diego Castaneda coached Team North Texas while assistant coach Sarah Rumely and Beck played on the team.
Team North Texas's roster included a total of 14 Division I All-Americans - three first-team selections, four second-team, two third-team and five honorable mentions. The squad also boasted six conference players of the year, three conference freshman of the year awards and three conference libero of the year awards in addition to one NCAA Academic All-American of the Year.
The team arrived in Louisville the day before competition to practice before the 9:30am match the next day. Competition started on May 24, with Team North Texas seeded second in the division, the top seed in Pool 2 with four other teams. The team faced strong opponents in pool play, coming out of the first round undefeated at 4-0. TNT would be the top seed in Round 2 with Dream Team from NCVA and Team New England.
TNT went to five sets in their last match of the round against Dream Team, narrowly losing 17-15. Despite finishing second and being relegated to the Silver division, TNT rebounded the next day, beating Badger Blizzards in four sets and in the Silver final, faced Hoosier Exterminators, the 2012 champion and top seed at the event. In a four set match, TNT was able to end the tournament with a win and first place finish in Silver, finishing fifth overall, with a 7-1 record which was the best in the division and the highest point ratio.
