GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Matt Conway, Mark Rhine, Austin Stadler and Evan Stephens have all been named to the All-ACC Academic Baseball Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office on Monday afternoon.
For Stephens, this marked the second straight season that he has earned the award, while the other three earned the accolades for the first time.
Rhine and Stadler are now both graduated seniors, and Conway and Stephens will return in a Demon Deacon uniform next season.
Stephens, a finance major, was one of just five ACC student-athletes to earn Capital One Academic All-District honors in baseball for the most recent season. He also led the Deacs with a .358 batting average and a .494 on base percentage as the team's leadoff man this year. Stephens played in all 55 games and made 49 starts in the outfield.
Conway (finance) finished second on the team with a .335 batting average and led Wake Forest with 18 doubles on the year. He also belted three home runs and had 36 RBIs while leading the team with a .479 slugging percentage.
Rhine (economics) was a mainstay at third base throughout the season and finished the year third on the team with a .293 batting average. He committed just nine errors at the hot corner, and reached base at a .436 clip thanks to 31 walks and 15 HBPs.
Stadler (business & enterprise management/communication) was Wake Forest's most consistent starter throughout the season, finishing his fifth year at Wake Forest with a team-low 3.50 ERA and a 5-3 record. He led the pitching staff with 60 strikeouts and held opponents to a .290 average in 69.1 innings of work.
