WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest signees Alex Murphy and Dylan Manwaring were both selected on Day 2 of the 2013 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Friday.

Murphy, who hails from Monrovia, Md., was taken by his hometown Baltimore Orioles with the 189th pick in the 6th Round. Manwaring is from Horseheads, N.Y., and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves with the 283rd overall pick in the 9th Round.

This marks the 34th straight year that Wake Forest has had either a current player or an incoming signee selected in the MLB Draft. Mark McCoy was the only signee who was drafted last year, as the Milwaukee Brewers took him with the 815th overall pick in the 26th Round.

Murphy is highest incoming freshman taken in the draft since Ryan Webb was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the 4th Round of the 2004 draft. The last incoming freshman who opted to sign a professional contract instead of attending Wake Forest was Jake Johnson in 2009. He was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th Round.

The signing deadline for players in the draft is July 12 at 5 p.m. ET.

Day 3 of the draft, which will consist of Rounds 11-40, will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday. For live updates throughout the draft, you can follow @MLBDraft and @MLBDraftTracker on Twitter.
