ADVANCE, N.C. - Wake Forest used goals from six different players to defeat Campbell 6-1 in the Demon Deacons' only exhibition game of the preseason on Friday night at BB&T Soccer Park.

Katie Stengel, Annick McBryar, Riley Ridgik, Rachel Nuzzolese, Katie Dry and Kendal Robino all found the back of the net in the win for Wake Forest. Stengel and Nuzzolese each had three points apiece by dishing out an assist, also.

Caroline Wootten recorded a pair of assists, while Jessica Mandarich and Courtney Owen each had one assist.

Aubrey Bledsoe started and played the first 60 minutes of the game in goal without allowing Campbell to score. The Camels only got on the board in the 78th minute on a penalty kick by Ashley Hartert following a foul in the box.

Wake Forest and Campbell played three 30-minute periods on the night, and the Demon Deacons were able to jump out early with three goals in the first.

Stengel put the Demon Deacons up 1-0 in the 10th minute. Mandarich crossed a ball from the left side, and Stengel was alone in the middle of the box to head the ball over the Campbell goalkeeper.

Just under six minutes later, Owen crossed the ball from the right side of the box to the far post where McBryar was there to finish the goal in the 16th minute. Ridgik then capped the scoring in the first period in the 27th minute when she collected a rebound off a Stengel shot and fired it into the net.

The Deacs scored two more times in the second period. Nuzzolese was fouled in the box in the 32nd minute and converted the penalty to give Wake Forest a 4-0 advantage. Exactly 10 minutes later Wootten dished out her first assist of the game on a pass through the box that found Dry who made the game 5-0.

Robino put Wake Forest up 6-0 in the 70th minute after a nice passing sequence by Nuzzolese and Wootten in the penalty area.

The Demon Deacons will open up the regular season next Friday, August 23, at home against Kentucky. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Spry Stadium.
