WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has released its 2013-14 men's tennis schedule, which includes 18 matches against teams that ended last season in the ITA rankings and eight that finished the year in the Top 25.
The Demon Deacons will play 16 matches at home, headlined by contests against Clemson, Duke, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Texas.
Wake Forest will compete in nine fall tournaments, beginning on Sept. 13 when the Deacons send representatives to the Duke Fab Four Invitational and the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
The Deacons will host the Wake Forest Invitational on Oct. 11-13 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex, bringing a number of teams from around the country to Winston-Salem.
Dual match play starts for the Deacs on Jan. 11 when they host Coastal Carolina and Charlotte in a doubleheader. After another doubleheader the following week with Brown and ETSU, Wake Forest will head to Vanderbilt for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, hoping to book a spot in the ITA National Indoor Championships.
The Deacons will play two SEC teams in early February, welcoming South Carolina to town on Feb. 7 before traveling to perennial power Tennessee on Feb. 9, looking to avenge a narrow loss at the hands of the Vols in 2013.
Wake Forest will head to Oklahoma for Spring Break, taking on the Sooners on March 9 and Oklahoma State on March 11 before returning home for a March 13 match against Texas.
ACC play starts on March 16 on the road at North Carolina. The Deacons will play their first home ACC match on March 29 against Georgia Tech, kicking off a six-match homestand that includes a contest with Notre Dame - the newest men's tennis member of the ACC.
The ACC Championship will once again be held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. from April 23-27 with the NCAA Championship starting on May 10.
