Deacs Reach Five Finals at Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's tennis team continued its strong performance at the Wake Forest Invitational, advancing to five finals on Saturday at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
Demon Deacon doubles teams will play for the title in all three of the doubles flights, and Kasey Gardiner (C Singles) and Karen Forman (D Singles) reached the championship match of their singles flights.
In A Doubles, Gardiner partnered Xue Zhang to beat Stetson's Isabella Fernandez and Diana Bukajeva 8-3 in the semifinals. They will face ranked Elon pair No. 60 Jordan Johnston and Frida Jansacker in the final tomorrow.
Andrea Retolaza Andrade and Kimmy Guerin took down Ball State's Ashlyn Rang and Courtney Wild 8-5 in the B Doubles semis and will take on Giulia Andreazza and Jessica Brumit of ETSU in the final tomorrow.
Rounding out the doubles sweep was the Wake Forest team of Forman and Brigita Bercyte, who beat Beth Williamson and Tijana Uzelac 8-4 in the C Doubles semifinals. Their opponents in tomorrow's final will be Elon's Tolley Rice and Vivian Stavreva.
Gardiner cruised to the C Singles final, beating Rang 6-0, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and UNCG's Yasmin Franco 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals.
Forman outlasted Masey Demoss of UNCG 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of D Singles before beating Tijana Uzelac 6-3, 6-4 in the semis.
Guerin won her A Singles quarterfinal 6-4, 6-2 against Lyn Yee Choo before falling to Davidson's Brites Moniz-Soares in the semis. In E Singles, Kristina Centenari advanced to the semifinals with a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win over Richmond's Kelsey Rilliams before bowing out to ETSU's Jessica Brumit.
The tournament will wrap up tomorrow at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. The doubles finals will be played at 9 a.m. with singles to follow.
