WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Kylie Hargreaves registered 12 kills on Saturday night but Wake Forest fell to Virginia 3-0 (25-27, 10-25, 20-25) in Reynolds Gym.
Grissom added eight kills for the Deacs while Megan Miller had a team-high in digs with 14. Matalee Reed had seven digs while Grissom had a team-high three block assists.
The first set proved extremely close with Wake Forest leading midway through 15-13. Virginia eventually tied the set at 21-21. The Cavaliers eventually took the set 27-25 after several close points.
Virginia controlled the second set, winning 25-10 to push its lead to 2-0. In the third set, the Cavaliers led 14-9 but Wake Forest eventually knotted the set at 17. The Demon Deacons eventually fell 25-20 as Virginia took the match 3-0.
Tori Janowski led the Cavaliers (8-6, 1-1 ACC) with 14 kills while Haley Kole had 12.
Wake Forest (11-3, 0-2 ACC) heads to Notre Dame on Friday night and will play at Duke on Sunday.
