No. 18 Wake Forest Falls to No. 13 Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa - After a scoreless first half, No. 13 Iowa used two second half goals to down No. 18 Wake Forest field hockey 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in the opening game of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge hosted by Iowa.
Wake Forest moves to a record of 1-1 on the season while Iowa improves to a 2-0 overall record.
Anna Kozniuk had three shots and a defensive save while goalkeeper Valerie Dahmen had six saves in the game.
Both teams played a scoreless first half with Iowa holding a 6-1 advantage in shots. Dahmen made three saves in the half to keep the Hawkeyes off the board. Kozniuk launched a shot at the 12:36 mark of the frame but it went wide of the cage.
Kozniuk had a chance at the 46:31 mark of the game but Kelsey Boyce made the stop to keep the game scoreless.
Iowa finally broke the tie with a goal from Karli Johansen off a penalty stroke with 23:04 left in the game. Natalie Cafone made it a 2-0 game with an unassisted goal at 62:51 in the second half.
Coming up with a big defensive play, Kozniuk registered her first career defensive save with 1:13 left in the game.
Wake Forest will take on No. 9 Michigan to wrap up the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
