Wake Forest will meet one of its newest ACC rivals for the first time ever when the Demon Deacons play at Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon.
Tip-off is scheduled for noon at the Petersen Events Center. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network and online on ESPN3. It can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest is coming off a 74-51 loss at Virginia on Wednesday in Charlottesville. The Cavaliers scored the first 11 points of the game, as the Deacons struggled with turnovers right out of the gate.
Native Virginian Coron Williams paced the Deacons with 11 points, hitting a trio of 3-pointers.
Arnaud William Adala Moto continued his recent strong play with nine points, going 5-of-6 at the line.
The ACC's leading rebounder Devin Thomas was limited to just two points and three rebounds after leaving the game early in the second half when he sustained a shoulder to the jaw.
Wake Forest was held to a season-low 35.4 percent from the floor, while Virginia shot an even 50 percent.
The Deacons went 13-for-18 at the free throw line for 72.2 percent.
Wake Forest Storylines
Wake Forest is in the middle of a stretch that sees it play four of five games on the road.
Fifth-year transfer Coron Williams is returning to the Pittsburgh area after playing the previous four years at nearby Robert Morris University.
Senior Travis McKie is 13 points away from 1,500 for his career. The leading active career scorer in the ACC, McKie would be the 20th Deacon to reach the mark.
Arnaud William Adala Moto has made 10 of his last 11 free throws. Before that stretch, he was only 10-of-26 (38.5 percent) this season.
The Deacons feature one of the ACC's leading rebounders in Devin Thomas, who pulls down 8.9 boards per game. Wake Forest is 9-0 in games this year when Thomas leads the team in rebounding.
Andre Washington ranks fifth in the ACC with 1.9 blocks per game despite averaging under 10 minutes per game.
Series History
Wake Forest and Pittsburgh are meeting on the hardwood for the first time ever on Saturday. The Deacons and Panthers have never met previously in football or baseball either.
This past fall, the two schools had their first-ever meetings in men's and women's soccer and volleyball. Wake Forest went 2-1 in those games, winning in both soccers while falling at Pitt in volleyball. The Deacons also topped the Panthers in men's and women's cross country at the 2013 ACC Championships.
Next Up...
Wake Forest returns home to the Joel Coliseum on Wednesday, Jan. 15, to host rival NC State at 9 p.m.
The Deacons will hit the road again for back-to-back games beginning next weekend when Wake Forest plays at Clemson on Saturday, Jan. 18, and at Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
