
Deacons sweep Saturday doubleheader, improve to 4-0

No. 19 Wake Forest sweeps Brown in first match of doubleheader
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest cruised to a 9-0 victory over Brown in the first match of a doubleheader on Saturday at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
The Demon Deacons' ranked players picked up quick wins at the top of the lineup. Romain Bogaerts easily defeated Brown (0-1) sophomore Justin To by a score of 6-3, 6-0. Playing at the second position, Adam Lee sprinted out to a big advantage in the first set and finished off Sam Fife, 6-1, 6-1.
Wake Forest (3-0) picked up straight sets victories at seven of the eight singles positions. Freshman Maksim Kan prevailed over Brown sophomore David Hirschberg by a score of 6-3, 6-2, and fellow freshman Aws Laaribi defeated Lucas Da Silveira 6-3, 6-5(5).
Jaya Billa and Sam Bloom also won in straight sets at the seventh and eighth positions respectively. Billa defeated Thomas Nath by a score of 6-2, 6-2, while Bloom beat Ivan Kravtchenko, 6-5(4), 6-3.
Pedro Dumont, playing at the fifth position, picked up a victory against David Neff by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Sophomore Jon Ho fell behind early in the second set against Gregory Garcia of the Bears, but closed out the match by winning the final set to finish the Deacon sweep. Ho won by a score of 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
In doubles, Wake Forest won at the first, second, and fourth positions to take the early point of the match. Lee and Dumont, ranked 30th in the country, defeated To and Da Silveira by a score of 6-5(2) to clinch the doubles point for the Deacons. Bogaerts and Kan, along with Laaribi and Anthony Delcore, also won their doubles matches.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Adam Lee's match-winning tiebreaker gave Wake Forest a dramatic victory of ETSU by a score of 5-3 on Saturday at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
Lee, playing at the second position, sprinted out to an early lead and took the first set over Diego Nunez of ETSU, 6-1. After Nunez won the second set, the two played to a 5-5 tie, forcing a tiebreaker with Wake Forest (4-0) needing one more win to clinch the match.
Lee broke out to an early lead in the tiebreaker and never looked back. The New Zealand senior defeated Nunez by a score of 6-1, 4-6, 6-5(3).
Top-seeded Romain Bogaerts cruised to a victory over David Biosca by a score of 6-4, 6-1. Also winning in straight sets was Maksim Kan, who defeated ETSU (0-1) senior Roger Ordeig, 6-3, 6-4.
At the fifth position, Pedro Dumont won a back-and-forth three setter over Ismael Merino. After winning the first set, Dumont quickly fell behind in the second and was blanked. But Dumont made a quick comeback in the final set, defeated Merino by a score of 6-3, 0-6, 6-2.
Despite taking the first set, sophomore Jon Ho fell to Sebastian Yllera of ETSU by a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-5(2). At the sixth position, Ricardo Pabon of ETSU defeated Laaribi by a score of 2-6, 6-5(5), 6-4.
Redshirt sophomore Jaya Billa fell in straight sets to Huertas, losing 6-3, 6-4.
Wake Forest swept the doubles point led by Bogaert and Lee's quick victory at the second position. The Deacon duo defeated Roger Ordeig and David Biosca of ETSU by a score of 6-1.
At the top position, Dumont and Lee earned a 6-4 victory over freshman Buccaneer duo Diego Nunez and Ismael Merino. Laaribi and Delcore teamed up to earn a tiebreaker victory over Ricardo Pabon and Del Pino, 6-5(4) at the third spot.
Wake Forest will be back in action next Saturday when they face LSU at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
