RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Wake Forest freshmen Samantha Asch and Luisa Fernandez took second place in the doubles draw at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic, falling to Stanford's top team in the final Sunday.

Asch and Fernandez played well against the Cardinal's 15th-ranked team of Kristie Ahn and Carol Zhao but came out on the wrong end of a 6-0 scoreline. The loss was the first of the season for Asch and Fernandez who won their first seven matches together to start their careers.

The duo will return home in time for Wake Forest's season-opening doubleheader tomorrow against College of Charleston (9 a.m.) and UNCG (2 p.m.) at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.
