WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will host Youth Sports Day on Saturday, Jan. 4, when it opens ACC play against Miami. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
All fans wearing a youth sports jersey to the game will receive free admission. Games and other in-game activities will be available for everyone wearing a youth sports jersey. Parking is free for all women's basketball games.
The Demon Deacons are riding a five-game win-streak and recently won the FIU Sun & Fun Classic. Two members of the team, junior Millesa Calicott and freshman Keri Fulp have found memories of Youth Sports Day at the Joel.
"Sitting so close to the action gave me a new appreciation for the atmosphere of the college game," Calicott said. "Our team, the Winston-Salem Steamers, even got to play on the court during halftime and that only added to my dream of playing here."
Fulp uses her memories as a fan to keep her motivated.
"I remember getting to sit courtside at the Joel was a lot of fun," said Fulp, a member of the Surry Storm. "The Joel is huge compared to a high school gym and getting to be that close to the action was like a dream. It made we want to play here and now that I am, it helps me remember being that little girl and it keeps me focused and working hard.
