CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Virginia scored the first 11 points of the game and never looked back, beating Wake Forest 74-51 on Wednesday night at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Va.

Early turnovers cost the Demon Deacons (11-4, 1-1 ACC), allowing the Cavaliers (11-4, 2-0 ACC) to build a lead. While the Deacons were able to cut the advantage to single digits later in the first half, they would get no closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Coron Williams led the Demon Deacons with 11 points while Arnaud William Adala Moto added nine.

Malcom Brogdon led four Virginia players in double figures with 14 points.

The Cavaliers shot an even 50 percent from the field while holding the Demon Deacons to a season-low 35.4 percent. Virginia outrebounded Wake Forest 38-25.

Wake Forest turned the ball over on its first four possessions of the game, allowing Virginia to jump out to an 11-0 lead.

After the Cavaliers went ahead by as many as 18 in the first half, the Deacons switched to a zone defense, sparking a 9-0 run that cut the Cavalier advantage to 29-20. But the Hoos began to connect from distance as the half wore down - four of their last five field goals were 3-pointers, including one at the buzzer by Joe Harris - to take a 41-24 lead into the locker room.

Virginia carried the momentum out of the locker room, starting the second period on a 10-2 run that put the game out of reach.

Wake Forest will return to action on Saturday with a road trip to Pitt for a noon game. It will be broadcast on the ACC Network and can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
