WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest head volleyball coach Ken Murczek has announced the addition of Sha'Dare McNeal, a former NCAA National Champion and an AVCA All-American while at the University of Texas, as the newest addition to the coaching staff on Thursday. She will be the new volunteer assistant coach on staff.
McNeal joins the Demon Deacon coaching staff after playing a year professionally in Bolozano, Italy with Naruda Volley, and playing for the 2013 U-23 Women's National Team that finished fourth at the Inaugural 2013 U-23 World Championships in Mexico.
"I am extremely excited about adding Sha'Dare to our coaching staff," said Murczek." She brings a wealth of experience both as a former Division I athlete at the University of Texas and playing professionally. She is a tremendous role model for our current players to learn from and I look forward to her making an immediate impact with our team."
While at Texas, McNeal was a part of a team that won a National Championship and made three Final Four appearances in her four years with the Longhorns. She received many accolades during her senior season as the team captain. She earned 2012 AVCA All-Central Region honors and was named to 2012 NCAA Volleyball All-Tournament Team after the Longhorns claimed their second National Championship in school history. Also during her senior season, she was named to NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team and the 2012 All-Big 12 First Team.
McNeal also earned 2010 Academic All-Big 12 second team honors and was named to the 2010 Texas Invitational and Burnt Orange Classic all-tournament teams as a sophomore.
The San Diego, Calif. native came to Texas as the No. 5 rated recruit in the nation according to Prep Volleyball in 2009 and was a member of the Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 Selections. In addition, she was a member of the United States Junior National & A2 teams prior to joining the Longhorns.
