CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Noah Rubin saw his four-match winning streak come to an end, as he fell to eighth-seeded and No. 142-ranked Frank Dancevic in the second round of the main draw of the Champaign Challenger on Wednesday.
Dancevic earned the straight-sets victory over Rubin, 6-2, 6-3.
Despite the loss, Rubin's main draw victory made him just the second current NCAA competitor to earn a main draw victory on the ATP Challenger Tour this year. The other is Illinois All-American Jared Hiltzik, while five others have gone winless.
Rubin earned that win in a back-and-forth match, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 over Edward Corrie, the world's No. 223-ranked player, for his fourth consecutive win.
While Rubin has tallied other wins during qualifying rounds of ATP events, that was his first in a main draw.
To reach the main draw, Rubin beat ACC freshman Alexander Ritschard of Virginia in the final qualifying round, 6-1, 7-5.
Rubin earned a second-round upset in the second round over No. 370-ranked and second-seeded Dennis Novikov, winning 6-4, 6-2.
Previously, Rubin eased to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Keith Whittingham in the first round for his second win as a Demon Deacon.
Now, the Deacons turn their sights to the spring season, where they open against Charlotte and East Tennessee State in a doubleheader on Jan. 17.
