Wake Forest Begins Two-Game road Swing at Tulane >>
Wake Forest hits the road early in the 2014-15 season as the Demon Deacons begin a two-game road swing this week starting with Tulane on Monday evening in New Orleans.
Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST at Devlin Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast online on ESPN3. It can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
Last Time Out >>
Wake Forest is coming off an 80-69 season-opening win over UNC Asheville on Friday in Winston-Salem.
Devin Thomas led the Deacons, matching his career-high with 25 points while also pulling down 13 rebounds for his ACC-leading 10th career double-double. Thomas was 7-for-9 from the field.
Freshman Konstantinos Mitoglou turned in a fine debut with 17 points and eight rebounds while shooting 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
Wake Forest won the rebounding battle 49-25, and took advantage of UNC Asheville foul trouble, sinking 32-of-45 free throw attempts.
The Deacons shot 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field, limiting the Bulldogs to 32.3 percent (20-of-62).
Wake Forest Storylines >>
Wake Forest has not played a true road game this early in the season since playing at Bucknell on Nov. 14, 2006, and winning 86-83 in overtime.
Devin Thomas leads all active ACC players with 10 career double-doubles. He ranks second in the league in career rebounds and tops among juniors.
The Deacons return three starters off last year's squad, including leading scorer and assist man Codi Miller-McIntyre and leading rebounder Devin Thomas. Point guard Madison Jones, who led the team in steals last year, is the third returning starter.
Codi Miller-McIntyre returns after leading the team in both scoring and assists last season, becoming the first Deacon to accomplish the feat since Jeff Teague in 2008-09.
Series History >>
Wake Forest is 5-0 all-time against Tulane, including a 72-57 win in Winston-Salem last December. Coron Williams led the Deacons with 18 points, as the Deacon bench totaled 34 points in the game.
Last year's meeting was the first since Feb. 3, 1992, when the Deacons knocked off the No. 13-ranked Green Wave 69-66 in Winston-Salem.
Two of the five meetings have come at neutral sites with Wake Forest beating Tulane in Raleigh in 1953 and in Charleston, S.C., in 1972.
Next Up... >>
Wake Forest will fly directly to Fayetteville, Arkansas after the game on Monday as the Demon Deacons prepare to play at Arkansas on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 9 p.m. EST.
The game at Arkansas begins the Roundball Classic, Wake Forest's exempt event for the season. The Deacons will host Iona, Nicholls State and Delaware State as part of the Roundball Classic event.
Wake Forest returns home on Friday, Nov. 21, against Iona to begin a stretch that sees the Deacons play five home games in a 12-day span.
