Rubin Notches Upset Win in Champaign Challenger

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Noah Rubin earned his second straight win to advance into the final round of qualifying at the Champaign Challenger on Sunday.
Rubin earned a second-round upset over No. 370-ranked and second-seeded Dennis Novikov, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.
Novikov spent two years at UCLA before turning professional.
Tomorrow, Rubin will battle fellow ACC freshman Alexander Ritschart of Virginia for a spot in the tournament's main draw. That match will begin at approximately 11 a.m. ET.
Previously, Rubin eased to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Keith Whittingham in the first round for his second win as a Demon Deacon.
