Smoltz Headlines Wake Forest's First Pitch Banquet

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Cy Young Award recipient, eight-time MLB All-Star and Hall of Fame inductee John Smoltz will be a special guest at the 2015 Wake Forest Baseball First Pitch Dinner on Thursday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. in the Snead Room at Bridger Field House.
"We are very pleased that John Smoltz has agreed to kick off our 2015 campaign," said head baseball coach Tom Walter. "As a pitcher John is in a class by himself. He is the only player in Major League history to have more than 200 wins and 150 saves. Known for his versatility, endurance and toughness, John won the Cy Young award in 1996 and was an eight-time All-Star."
"As a person, John is also in a class by himself. He was a leader in the clubhouse and won the Marvin Miller Man of the Year award for contributions to his community. Now a successful TV analyst, John Smoltz is now a first-ballot Major League Baseball Hall of Famer."
The cost of the event will be $100 per person or $1,000 for a table of 10 people. Table purchases also include two John Smoltz autographed baseballs and two passes for a pre-dinner VIP reception with Smoltz.
In addition to Smoltz, Walter and members of the Wake Forest baseball team will be special guests.
The evening will also be highlighted by both a silent and live auction featuring a John Smoltz autographed jersey, tickets to the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, and much more.
Proceeds from the auctions and event will benefit the Wake Forest Baseball program. Every ticket purchase also comes with a complimentary Wake Forest Baseball season pass, valued at $45 (table purchases come with 10 season passes, valued at $450).
The deadline for online registration is Monday, February 9.
