WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The NCAA confirmed today that Wake Forest freshman guard Mitchell Wilbekin will sit out three games.

Wake Forest announced on Saturday, Dec. 20, that the NCAA suspension could be up to six games. The NCAA ruled today that the suspension would be set at three games.

"We accept the NCAA's three-game suspension," said Athletics Director Ron Wellman. "We are pleased they were willing to listen to our reasons for supporting a lesser penalty for Mitchell.

"Mitchell and his family have handled this situation exceptionally well, and we look forward to his return against Princeton."

Wilbekin missed Saturday's game against Florida and will also sit out today against Bucknell and Sunday's upcoming game at Richmond.

Wilbekin is eligible to return to the court beginning with the Princeton game on Dec. 31.
