USA Tops Ireland 6-1, Rubin Wins Twice

AIX-EN-PROVENCE, France - Wake Forest's Noah Rubin earned a pair of victories as the United States defeated Ireland 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the ninth annual Master'U BNP Paribas.
Rubin recorded his first win in men's doubles. Teamed with Georgia's Nathan Pasha, the duo beat Cian Reid and Jack Hughes, each of whom are ranked in the top 10 collegiately in Ireland, 7-5, 6-3.
In mixed doubles, Rubin paired with UCLA's Robin Anderson to defeat Phillip Sheehan and Sinead Kennedy in just 23 minutes, 8-1.
The United States advances to the semifinals to compete against Russia on Saturday.
The eight-country competition allows collegiate tennis players from around the world to compete against each other. Each nation is represented by six student-athletes - three men and three women - and two head coaches.
Each round of competition is in a best-of-seven format, which includes two matches in men's singles, two in women's singles, and one each in men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
Other countries participating include Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Russia.
