No. 25 Wake Forest Defeats NC Central 6-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest finished off a perfect 3-0 weekend of play with a 6-1 victory over NC Central on Sunday at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
In the three-match home stand, Wake Forest (12-7, 2-3 ACC) earned their first two ACC victories of the season in addition to the victory over the Eagles (5-10, 0-1 MEAC).
Playing at the number one spot for the first time in his career, Aws Laaribi secured the clinching victory in singles. Laaribi downed Daniil Gerasimov of NC Central by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Sam Bloom re-entered the singles lineup and picked up a 6-4, 7-6(5) victory against NC Central freshman William East at the second spot.
Anthony Delcore got things going in singles for the Demon Deacons at the third position. He cruised to a straight-sets victory over Tamina Kienka of NC Central with a final score of 6-0, 6-0.
Romain Bogaerts also picked up a straight-sets victory, defeating NC Central freshman Kyle Hairston by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at the sixth position.
At the fifth position, Pedro Dumont defeated Thomas Persico by a score of 7-5, 6-1 to round out a strong singles day for the Deacons.
At the fourth position, Jaya Billa was forced to retire in his match against Fabrice George, with the first set score standing at 6-5 in favor of George.
Wake Forest easily swept the doubles point, taking an early lead on the match. At the third position. Nicky Kunz and Dumont took down George and Persico of NC Central by a score of 8-2. Bloom and Delcore took an 8-4 win at the first seed over Gerasimov and Stephan Charles-Donatien to clinch the doubles point for the Deacons.
After the doubles point had been decided, Laaribi and Billa defeated Kienka and East of the Eagles by a score of 8-3.
