Dearica Hamby Named First Team All-ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Dearica Hamby has been named first team All-Atlantic Coast Conference as voted on by the Blue Ribbon Panel and announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Hamby is just the third Demon Deacon to earn first team All-ACC honors joining Tracy Connor (1996) and Jen Mitchell Hoover (1991).
The Marietta, Ga., native has had a season to remember. She currently leads the ACC in both scoring (21.7) and rebounding (10.9) and has notched school-records for points and rebounds in a single-season. She also finished the regular season with 21 double-doubles, breaking Connor's previous school-record of 20, which she set during the 1992-93 season. No Demon Deacon has led the conference in scoring for a season while she is trying to join Connor and Mitchell as ACC rebounding champions.
In addition to her scoring and rebounding, Hamby leads the team in blocks (33) and steals (60) and is second on the squad in assists (51).
Wake Forest finished the regular season with a 14-15 record and earned the No. 11-seed in the ACC Tournament. The Deacons open the tournament on Wednesday evening against No. 14-seed Pitt.
