WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 21 Wake Forest will welcome ACC foes Notre Dame and Boston College, as well as non-conference opponent George Washington, to the Wake Forest Tennis Complex this weekend.
The Demon Deacons will draw the No. 12 Fighting Irish on Friday at 4 p.m. before squaring off with Boston College (10 a.m.) and No. 53 George Washington (4 p.m.) in a doubleheader on Sunday.
Notre Dame (13-7, 3-3 ACC) enters Friday's contest on a two-match losing streak after consecutive defeats against Duke and North Carolina on their home courts. Despite the recent setbacks, however, the Fighting Irish own five victories this season over teams currently ranked inside the top 20, including a pair of 4-3 wins over No. 14 Kentucky.
Boston College (4-10, 0-6 ACC) will make the North Carolina swing this weekend, visiting NC State on Friday afternoon before heading to Winston-Salem on Sunday. The Eagles have won just one point in conference matches thus far and have been swept in three straight matches going into the weekend.
George Washington (10-5, 0-0 A-10) will open conference play against Fordham and Richmond on Friday and Saturday before heading south to take on the Demon Deacons on Sunday. The Colonials have collected four wins against top-70 squads and are particularly strong at the Nos. 2 and 3 singles spots, posting a collective 20-4 record in matches at those positions.
The Deacs will put their three-match winning streak on the line this weekend. The team collected ACC wins over Georgia Tech and Clemson last weekend before downing NC Central in a non-conference matchup. No. 32 Romain Bogaerts posted a perfect 3-0 record in singles play and did not drop a set along the way.
Bogaerts is one of three players that Wake Forest boasts in the ITA singles rankings. He is joined by No. 45 Adam Lee and No. 68 Maksim Kan in the latest edition of the rankings.
In doubles play, Lee and Pedro Dumont are ranked No. 52 in the nation and earned a big victory by downing No. 23 Carlos Benito and Eduardo Segura of Georgia Tech last weekend.
By moving up to No. 21, the Deacs also remained in the top 25 of the ITA team rankings for the 16th consecutive week dating back to the 2013 season, their longest such streak since 2009-10.
Live scoring will be available for all three matches this weekend, and live streaming will also be offered for each match through the Wake Forest All-Access Package. In addition, fans can also follow @WakeMTennis on Twitter for the latest updates throughout the match.
Admission for all Wake Forest home tennis matches is free to the general public at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
