WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Head Coach Ken Murczek announced Wake Forest's 2014 volleyball schedule on Wednesday, a slate which features eight NCAA Tournaments squads from last season.

"We're excited for the opportunity to play eight NCAA Tournament teams from last season," Murczek said of the tough schedule.

The Demon Deacons will open the season on the road for a four-team tournament at the University of Houston. They will take on Texas State, Houston and Lamar in the two-day event on Aug. 29-30. Wake Forest dropped its only meeting with Houston in school history and will be facing Texas State and Lamar for the first time.

NC Central and Davidson are on the docket for the opening doubleheader inside Reynolds Gym on Friday, Sept. 5. The Deacs will take on the Eagles at 3 p.m. before tangling with the Wildcats in the nightcap at 7 p.m. Wake Forest is 9-1 combined all-time against the two foes.

Another non-conference home doubleheader featuring Presbyterian and Wofford will take place on Sept. 6 before Wake Forest travels to Charleston, S.C., to take on College of Charleston, Cal State Fullerton and Stetson on Sept. 12-13.

On Sept. 18, the Demon Deacons will host Big 12 foe Oklahoma, who finished the 2013 season with a 24-8 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. "We get to host one of the top teams out of the Big 12 to prepare us for conference play and we're excited for that challenge," Murczek said of the Sooners.

Wake Forest will round out its non-conference slate against Winthrop (Sept. 19), Western Carolina (Sept. 20) and Elon (Sept. 20).

On the opening weekend of ACC play, the Deacs will host Virginia Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 before traveling to Charlottesville, Va., to take on Virginia at 7 p.m. on Sept. 27.

The home-and-home partners for Wake Forest this season are Virginia Tech (Sept. 26 and Nov. 21), NC State (Oct. 3 and Nov. 26), Georgia Tech (Oct. 5 and Nov. 7) and Duke (Oct. 12 and Oct. 31), while the Demon Deacons will play the rest of the ACC members just once.

2014 will mark the first season with Louisville as a member of the ACC. The Cardinals will travel to Winston-Salem on Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. to take on the Deacs.

The first and second rounds of the 2014 NCAA Tournament will be played at campus sites on Dec. 5-6 before the four regionals on Dec. 12-13. The Final Four will be contested in Oklahoma City on Dec. 18-20.
