WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's incoming 2014 women's tennis recruiting class has been ranked 22nd nationally by the Tennis Recruiting Network, the Demon Deacons' third consecutive year with a top-25 class.

Courtney Meredith and Sara Swift will join the program in the fall after enjoying very strong high school and junior careers. Meredith, a blue-chip recruit from Birmingham, Ala., captured the 2013 Florida 1A State Singles Championship and placed second in the overall state singles tournament en route to being named the Miami Herald's 2013 Ladies Tennis Player of the Year award.

Swift, a five-star player from Vero Beach, Fla., won back-to-back Scripps Treasure Coast Girls Tennis Player of the Year awards in 2012 and 2013 and was the state runner-up as an individual in 2012.

"We are really excited at the impact that Courtney and Sara will have on our program this fall and over the next four years. Their character and academic ability will fit in very well with our current group and will make them a great fit with Wake Forest," Head Coach Jeff Wyshner said of the incoming freshmen. "On the court, they are both determined and passionate tennis players who are already very talented and have had a great deal of success in junior play, but more importantly, they both have a lot of room to grow their game to help us compete at the highest levels. I can't wait to begin working more closely with them on their games this fall."

With the third straight top-25 recruiting class, Wake Forest joins an exclusive list of schools that have accomplished that feat over the same time frame. Florida, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Michigan, North Carolina, Princeton and UCLA have also enjoyed excellent recruiting success over the last three seasons.

"To have a third consecutive ranked recruiting class is just another indication of the positive strides we are making as a program," Wyshner said. "This year, we earned our way back into the national rankings, reached a high of No. 38 before injuries to our top two players set us back a bit and won as many matches as we had won in the last three years combined. I am really looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish this year with eight of nine players coming back plus the addition of Courtney and Sara."
