WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest incoming freshman Caroline Wolf enjoyed a tremendous club volleyball season and it was capped off Friday with an AAU National Championship.
In a thrilling and controversial championship match of the 41st AAU 18 Open National Championships in Orlando, Wolf helped her club team, Sports Performance Elite, win its fifth national title in the last seven years. SPVB downed rival Asics Munciana 18 Samurai 25-22, 25-23 in the final match.
Sports Performance is the top-ranked club team in the country. It did not drop a set the entire tournament and only dropped two competitive sets since March. The team finished the club season a remarkable 85-3.
Wolf is a libero from Benet Academy in Naperville, Ill. She led Benet to an Illinois state title in 2012 and a runner-up finish in 2013. Wolf joins a strong recruiting class that also includes Ciara Appelbaum, Kylie Long and Brianna Lynch.
