KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Incoming men's tennis freshman Noah Rubin continued his hot play by winning the USTA Boys' 18 National Championship in both singles and doubles play this weekend.
With the victories, Rubin also clinches wild card entries to the main draw of the US Open in singles and doubles action. He posted a record of 13-0 during the tournament, winning 27 of the 30 sets overall.
In the singles final on Sunday, third-seeded Rubin topped the fifth-seeded defending champion Collin Altamirano in straight sets to claim the title, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
Rubin teamed with Stefan Kozlov as the No. 2 seed in doubles play, taking down the top-seeded team of Altamirano and Deiton Baughman in straight sets of the final, 6-2, 6-2.
En route to the championships, held at Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College, Rubin took down three of the top seven seeds in singles action and two of the top four seeds in doubles play.
Rubin has now won each of the last two tournaments he has entered, as he recently won the Wimbledon boys' singles title.
