WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Four different Demon Deacons scored as Wake Forest women's soccer cruised to a 4-0 exhibition victory over Coastal Carolina on Thursday night at Spry Stadium.

In Wake Forest's second straight exhibition victory after defeating Charlotte on Tuesday, Pilar Torres, Taylor Waters, Riley Ridgik and Kendall Fischlein each scored a goal in a dominant performance.

Torres once again started the scoring, this time less than four minutes in. Off a Riley Ridgik assist, Torres snuck a shot inside the left post after a Coastal Carolina defender failed to clear, putting Wake Forest up 1-0.

In the 18th minute, Torres took another shot attempt, which teammate Taylor Waters deflected into the corner of the net to make the score 2-0. Maddie Brock also had an assist on the play.

Ridgik found the back of the net for the first time in the waning minutes of the first half. On a cross from Maddie Huster, Ridgik's header sailed over the Chanticleer keeper's head, and deflected off the crossbar and in for the 43rd-minute score.

At the 63:53 mark, Kendall Fischlein scored her second goal in as many games by intercepting a CCU pass and dribbling into the box before beating the keeper from short-range, making the score 4-0.

The Deacs outshot Coastal Carolina by a 31-4 margin, including an 18-1 advantage in shots on goal.

"I just thought the passing overall was better and faster tonight. Some of the kids that came in off the bench did a good job filling in," head coach Tony da Luz said. "After the [Charlotte] game when we reviewed the video, they had some chances against us...We want a shutout every game, so I think we had a much better attitude and awareness [tonight]."

Lindsay Preston, Sara Small and Taylor Kerxton combined for the shutout in goal, with Kerxton saving CCU's only shot on goal. Each keeper played approximately 30 minutes.

For CCU, starting keeper Faith Farley saved eight of Wake Forest's 10 shots, while sub Becca Austin made five saves on seven shots on goal.

BY THE NUMBERS
331: A second-straight crowd of 300-plus fans attended the game at Spry Stadium. Tonight, the impressive crowd on Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill was vocal throughout the contest.
29: Wake Forest held the Chanticleers without a shot for more than 29 minutes to open the game. The Deacons surpassed that mark again to open the second half, with Coastal Carolina's first and only second-half shot coming more than 31 minutes in.
19: A total of 19 Demon Deacons saw the field against CCU. Wake Forest used eight substitutes, double the amount that came in during the Charlotte contest.
10: In her second game in Old Gold & Black, freshman Pilar Torres took 10 shots. That mark is six more than CCU's whole team took, and just two short of Wake Forest's regular-season record of 12, set in 2010.
0: Wake Forest has allowed zero goals through two exhibition contests. Last year, the Deacs allowed one in their only exhibition, and another in the regular season opener. Wake Forest's first shutout a year ago - regular season or exhibition - didn't come until Sept. 6.

ON DECK
• Wake Forest has one more exhibition contest this week. The Deacs take on 2013 NCAA Tournament qualifier Ohio State at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Wake Forest opens the regular season at home against Wright State on Aug. 25.
