Wake Forest Faces Texas State, Lamar, and Houston >>
• Wake Forest will travel to Houston, Texas to take part in the University of Houston Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Deacs open the season at the Alumni Center on Friday at 3 p.m. when they face 2013 NCAA participant and Sun Belt Conference Champion Texas State.
• On Saturday the Demon Deacons will face Lamar at 2 p.m., followed by the host Houston Cougars at 6 p.m.
Last Time Out >>
• Wake Forest defeated N.C. State, 3-2, on Senior Night at Reynolds Gym to close out the 2013 regular season.
• The Deacs finished the season with a record of 16-16 overall and 5-15 in the ACC.
• Jazmen Russell (15), Matalee Reed (13), and Anna Carley (13) were three of four Deacs that recorded double-digit kills for the match.
• The Demon Deacons came back from a 2-1 deficit and won the final two sets to clinch their 16th victory of the season.
Wake Forest Storylines >>
• Wake Forest set the program record last season for best start by beginning the season 11-1. The previous record was a 10-1 start by the 2000 team.
• The Deacs return 10 players from last year's squad, including six starters.
• Megan Miller has 988 digs for her career and needs 12 to hit 1,000 in just a little over two years as a libero. She is currently 11th on the all-time digs list in school history and needs two digs to move into 10th all-time.
Series History >>
• It will be the first-ever meeting for the Deacs against the Bobcats and Cardinals.
• Wake Forest and Houston have met only once before in 2007 in the same University of Houston Tournament with the Cougars winning 3-1, on Sept. 15.
Next Time Out >>
• The Demon Deacons will return to Winston-Salem, N.C. to host the 2014 Deacon Invitational from Sept. 5-6 at Reynolds Gym. The home opener will be against NC Central on Sept. 5 at 3 p.m., followed by a matchup with Davidson at 7 p.m.
• The Deacs will wrap up the tournament on Sept. 6 with a 1 p.m. match against Presbyterian, and then a meeting with the Wofford Terriers at 7 p.m.
