WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest led No. 6 Louisville for more than half the game but the Cardinals escaped with a 79-68 win over the Demon Deacons. Dearica Hamby led the Deacs with her eighth double-double of the season.

Wake Forest (9-8, 0-3 ACC) has had a lead in the second half of the last two ACC games but was unable to hang on. Against Louisville, the Demon Deacons had a 12-point lead early in the second half.

Dearica Hamby posted her eighth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Amber Campbell led the team with 15 points and Nicole Floyd chipped in with 11 points.

Wake Forest shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half while the team's stingy defense limited Louisville to 33 percent shooting. The Deacs took a 42-31 lead in to halftime after going on an 8-2 run over the final 2:40 of the period.

Hamby put in a layup to push Wake Forest's lead to 12, 47-35, early in the second half. The Cardinals started forcing turnovers and used it to create offense, going on a 17-6 run to cut Wake Forest's lead to 53-52.

Mykia Jones provided a spark off the bench, completing a three-point play with 11:00 remaining to give Wake Forest a 58-53 advantage. Louisville answered with a 12-1 run to take the lead and give the Cardinals a 65-59 edge with just over six minutes to play.

With 3:21 to play Campbell scored on a layup to keep Wake Forest within six, 72-66. With the clock winding down the Demon Deacons were forced to start fouling and Louisville secured the game from the free-throw line, escaping with a 79-68 victory.
