Wake Forest 2015 Preview >>
Wake Forest opens the 2015 spring season with a No. 20 national ranking. The Demon Deacons finished 2014 ranked 30th, making them the only top 30 team to jump more than two spots from a year ago.
Of the 25 dual matches Wake Forest is scheduled to play, 20 are against ranked teams. The Deacons will compete against four of the top 10 teams, 10 of the top 25 teams, and 16 of the top 40 teams.
Several Demon Deacons had a winning singles record in the fall: Christian Seraphim (11-5), Jon Ho (10-4), Skander Mansouri (8-5), Sam Bloom (8-6), Matt Erdman (5-1) and Romain Bogaerts (4-3).
Sam Bloom and Anthony Delcore combined to post a team-best 7-3 record in doubles play.
Strong Returners >>
Wake Forest returns six players who saw extensive action a year ago, including three who were regulars in the top six.
Romain Bogaerts returns after spending last year at top singles. He finished with a 26-13 overall record, including 16-9 in the No. 1 slot.
Maksim Kan occupied the No. 3 singles spot most frequently, where he went 13-5, finishing the season with the best winning percentage with a 25-12 mark.
Jon Ho earned a 24-15 record, playing primarily at No. 4 singles. His six wins in ACC play tied for the team-high.
Sam Bloom (13-5), Anthony Delcore (6-6) and Nicholas Osterling (3-5) also saw action.
Here Come The Rookies >>
Five Demon Deacon freshmen are seeing their first action this season: Noah Rubin, Skander Mansouri, Christian Seraphim, Matt Erdman and Keivon Tabrizi.
Rubin was rated as the top incoming recruit in college tennis, and won the Wimbledon juniors title.
Mansouri, a Tunisia native, has competed as a junior at Wimbledon and Roland Garros and has had amateur success on the pro circuit.
Seraphim and Erdman redshirted last year and had successful falls. Seraphim leads the team with 11 wins, while Erdman went 5-1.
Tabrizi joined the squad as a mid-year enrollee. He has been ranked as high as No. 1143 in singles by the ATP.
The Opponents >>
The 49ers finished last year with a 13-7 record, earning a national ranking as high as No. 70. Jordi Massallé Ferrer leads Charlotte with a 10-2 record.
East Tennessee State was a perfect 7-0 in the A-Sun last year before moving to the Southern Conference this season. The Bucs fell to #72 North Florida on Friday by a 4-0 score.
