BLACKSBURG, Va. - Wake Forest fell at Virginia Tech 76-59 on Friday. Dearica Hamby posted her 11th double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Demon Deacons cut a 24 point deficit back to single digits late in the second half but the comeback ran out of steam and Virginia Tech won the game 76-59 for the Hokies first ACC win of the season.

Hamby turned in her 11th double-double of the season, leading the team with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She also had six steals. Kelila Atkinson added 10 points and Nicole Floyd chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.

Wake Forest (9-11, 0-6 ACC) went down 15-8 after the first seven minutes of play. Virginia Tech used a 7-1 run to open up the early lead. The Hokies continued to extend the lead in the half, taking a 21-point advantage to the locker room at halftime, 39-18.

A Sydney Cook jumpshot gave the Hokies their biggest lead of the night, 45-21, less than three minutes in to the second half. Wake Forest began to fight back in to the game with a three pointer by Floyd, the Demon Deacons' first trey of the game, that cut the lead to 50-31 with 15:34 to play. Wake Forest went on an 11-2 run to get back within 10 points, 59-49, with just over eight minutes remaining in the game.

Amber Campbell was fouled while pulling down and offensive rebound and sank both free throws to make it an eight-point deficit, 59-51, with 6:40 to play. The comeback ran out of steam when Wake Forest went the next three minutes without a field goal and allowed Virginia Tech to build the lead back to double figures. The Hokies went on to win the game 76-59.

NOTES:
• Hamby turned in her ACC-leading 11th double-double in the game.
• Wake Forest outscored Virginia Tech 32-24 in the paint.
Kelila Atkinson scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor.

UP NEXT:
• Wake Forest will travel straight to Tallahassee, Fla. to face No. 17/19 Florida State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
• The Demon Deacons trail in the all-time series 17-23 with Florida State.
• Wake Forest has won the last three meetings with the Seminoles including a 78-54 victory last season at the LJVM Coliseum.
