WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will open the spring season ranked No. 20 nationally, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Additionally, the Demon Deacons head into the spring campaign with three individuals holding national rankings, highlighted by Romain Bogaerts at No. 12.
Bogaerts defeated three nationally-ranked foes in the fall, including then-No. 3 Axel Alvarez Llamas, reaching the semifinals of the ITA All-American Championships.
Jon Ho makes his debut in the national singles rankings, slotting in at No. 52. Ho posted a 10-4 mark in the fall, in which he defeated a trio of top-70 opponents. Ho was ranked as high as No. 41 in doubles last year, but this marks his first national ranking in singles.
Rounding out the ranked competitors is Maksim Kan at No. 102. Kan has won seven of his last eight matches, holding a 3-0 record versus ranked foes in that span.
Additionally, Bogaerts is ranked No. 2 in the Carolina regional, while Ho is ninth and Kan is 14th.
After finishing the 2014 season with a No. 30 ranking, the Demon Deacons' 10-spot improvement makes Wake Forest the only team to move up more than two slots in the top 30 compared to the conclusion of last year.
Wake Forest opens the spring season in less than two weeks, welcoming Charlotte and No. 67 East Tennessee State to Winston-Salem on Jan. 17.
Of the 23 opponents Wake Forest has duals against this season, 18 are against ranked teams. The Deacons will compete against four of the top 10 teams, nine of the top 25 teams, and 15 of the top 40 teams.
