Wake Forest Set to Face In-state Opponents

Wake Forest Heads to Raleigh, Chapel Hill
Wake Forest continues its ACC schedule with road matches against NC State Friday at 7:30 p.m. and North Carolina Saturday at 5 p.m.
The Deacons will close out their regular season with rematches against both of this weekend's opponents, hosting the Tar Heels Nov. 25 and the Wolfpack Nov. 28.
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons rebounded from a 3-0 loss at Duke in their ACC opener with a 3-2 home win against Virginia to improve to 9-5 overall.
On offense, Matalee Reed notched a match-best 20 kills on a .516 hitting percentage, while Kylie Long posted her seventh double-double of the year with 19 kills and 11 digs. Hanna Lee had a Wake Forest season-best six service aces.
Defensively, Caroline Wolf picked up 17 digs, while Katie Moore registered six total blocks.
The win was Wake Forest's first over Virginia since 2011.
Racking Up the Digs
Caroline Wolf entered this week as the conference's leader in digs with 258 thus far in 2015. She has averaged 4.78 digs per set, good for third in the league.
Now in her sophomore season, Wolf has 791-career digs, the 17th-most in school history.
Scouting NC State
After starting the season with an 11-1 mark in non-conference play, NC State will seek its first ACC win Friday against Wake Forest after dropping 3-1 contests at Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.
Blayke Hranicka leads ACC freshmen and is fourth overall in the conference in hitting percentage at .400. Kaitlyn Kearney leads the league with 75 total blacks and in blocks per set with 1.50. Headed by aces leader Morgan Cormier (25), the Wolfpack has an ACC-best 90 aces as a team.
Scouting North Carolina
Defending ACC champion North Carolina, which plays Duke Friday, comes into the week with a 4-7 overall record after having its 19-match conference win streak snapped against Pittsburgh. All but one of the Tar Heels' losses have come against teams receiving votes in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches' Poll and they have defeated No. 8 Stanford and No. 23 Michigan.
Victoria McPherson is fifth in the ACC with a .375 hitting percentage and is tied for fourth with 1.33 blocks per set.
Carolina Dreams Night
At the Deacs' Saturday match, North Carolina will host its Carolina Dreams night, providing an opportunity for fans to support the North Carolina Children's Hospital by donating toys and art supplies to the hospital. Visit GoHeels.com for more information.
Next Time Out
The Demon Deacons will wrap up a stretch of 15-straight matches in the state of North Carolina next week when they play host to Miami and Florida State on Oct. 9 and 11, respectively.
Wake Forest will then play road matches at Louisville and Notre Dame.
