WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's tennis wrapped up the Wake Forest Invitational on Sunday as freshman Anna Ulyashchenko picked up her first collegiate title in winning the B Singles draw.
Ulyashchenko cruised through the draw, posting two more wins on Sunday in the semifinals and finals. She topped Mariana Humburg of Winthrop 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 before beating Belen Rivera of Liberty in the finals 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. The win caps a perfect weekend for the freshman, as she also won the B Doubles title with fellow freshman Emma Davis on Saturday.
Davis also made a run to the finals of the A Singles Draw, topping Nikol Hristova of Old Dominion by the score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. She dropped the title match to Lyn Yee Choo of East Tennessee State in a tightly-contested match that finished 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Choo topped Joanna Zalewski in the other semifinal of the A Singles draw after Zalewski won the first set. Zalewski ultimately dropped the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Luisa Fernandez got a chance to clinch the C Singles championship after topping Ingrid Vojcinakova of Old Dominion 6-2, 6-0, but she fell just shot in the finals against Mariana Espana of East Tennessee State, 6-3, 6-4.
